Tell us about N.E.W events :
N.E.W Events is a family led event planning company focusing on unifying and celebrating families of Afro-Caribbean backgrounds. We know that it truly takes a village to raise our children and our village is worth celebrating! Family is the centre of everything I do so much so that my event company’s name is my childrens initials Nia & Elijah Woodward!

What made you decide to do the DDDD?
My latest venture into event planning stems from my love of celebrating life and love. With that being said, the idea of celebrating fathers and daughters was born!

« We all know that fathers (father figures) play an important role in the development of our children. Sadly enough, these men don’t always get the recognition they deserve in our community. They are truly a son’s first hero and a daughter’s first love «

We all know that fathers (father figures) play an important role in the development of our children. Sadly enough, these men don’t always get the recognition they deserve in our community. They are truly a son’s first hero and a daughter’s first love and that is why N.E.W Events wanted to shine a light on men and their daughters whether it be their biological father, step father, grandfather or a male figure that stepped up to the plate to love and nurture our girls, with an evening where the girls could dress up and feel special while going on a dinner date and dance with their loved one!

How was the experience of the 1st edtion?
The first annual Daddy Daughter Dinner & Dance was an incredible experience for me. I was overjoyed with the turnout and watching the men and their daughters bonding over dinner and enjoying the dance floor together was truly special! I had men come to me with tears in their eyes to thank me for putting on the event and was moved by all the messages that came in afterwards saying how much the event meant to them! My team was instrumental in making the evening magical and I couldn’t do it without the following vendors and sponsors :

Winston Woodward Realty / YnV Florals /  Luxurious Mane / Grind Now Shine Later / Gourmet by Design Catering / DJ Star Q / Ms Lois Lane / Labnoise / Exquisite Jewels by K / 4 Da Ppl Ent / Sassy Styles Salon /  GilGal Beauty.

What are your hopes for the second edition next year?
Next year will be bigger and better! My hopes (and prayers) are to see more men show up next year and partake in changing the narrative of black men in our community. I want the space to be a sacred brotherhood where words don’t have to be exchanged to know that everyone in the room has at least one thing in common…changing the perception of black men in our community ![/vc_column_text]
